Edge Server - VMS in the cloud - higher level of redundancy

Video data transmitted from security cameras is usually stored in a central location and distributed from there for live viewing and playback. If the connection between the camera location and the central storage is lost, the live broadcast is lost and no video recordings that may be relevant in the future can be made.

The risk of temporary loss of connection increases significantly in the case of multi-user installations, where the use of third-party and more complex networks (VPN) cannot be avoided.

HOW IT WORKS?

Edge Server functionalities eliminate this risk. Due to the fact that the video data is stored simultaneously in two different locations: local - closer to the camera ("edge server") and centralized ("cloud server"), after the network connection is restored, it is possible to synchronize the data stored on the "edge server" with "Cloud server". The operator receives information about a failure that prevented the data from being saved in the cloud. The system allows "repair" - the user indicates cameras from which data should be synchronized with the local server.

CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE

This solution also allows data to be saved in two servers simultaneously, ensuring continuous availability of data in the High Availability model (redundant mirror server). This functionality is necessary in the case of systems operating within the framework of critical infrastructure, in the power industry or distributed systems.
